Wayne Westwood
British artist
(b.1964) Birmingham, England

Wayne developed an interest in painting at the age of ten when he received a book by the internationally known wildlife artist Raymond Harris Ching, and the AA British Book of Birds. It was at this time he decided he wanted to be an artist when he grew up.

He is a self-taught artist with no formal training. He has supplemented his income by doing various jobs including picture framing, making stained glass windows and farm work.

Wayne suffered a serious heart attack at the age of 27 which completely changed his life. After he recovered, painting consumed his time and energy and he developed his artistic talent. As a full-time professional artist he quickly became a leading wildlife painter with sell-out exhibitions.

He has also developed his technique to pursue his love of painting still life. His fine attention to detail allows him to produce work of the highest calibre. All of his still life work is painted from compositions set up in his studio.

He has had work published and had various articles in wildlife and art magazines including Birds Illustrated and Countryman’s Weekly.

His hobbies include fly fishing, photography and walking. He now lives in rural Wales where he gains much of his inspiration and reference.
